At the crab feast, I twirled a six-gun
pointing it at the candy-striped
mid-section of Aunt Bernice
holding court in her lawn chair.

"Give me that damn thing," she said,
and yanked it out of my hand,
tearing the skin off my trigger finger.
"I'll teach you to point a gun at me."

She stuffed the nickel-plated pistol
into her shiny black pocketbook,
sipping Cutty Sark on the rocks.
